Museum Victoria chooses me™

Media Equation (me™) is pleased to announce the commencement of a new project for Museum Victoria.

The Melbourne cultural institution has selected me™ to provide an integrated project solution to manage its digital online collections and its digitisation workflows. In June 2008, the lookat.me™ Digital Asset Management System (DAM), Digital Rights Management (DRM), along with Serena® Mashup® will be installed and implemented.  The me™ solution will be integrated with KE Software’s EMu – a collections management database for museums.

The project solution will provide such key benefits, including:
-       Integration with the EMu catalogue system
-       Secure web access to selected items for general public users
-       Secure web distribution of images to authorised users
-       Rich media management of various asset types (e.g. photos, video, audio)
-       Complex rights management and risk control of assets
-       Workflow management to control the digitisation and copyright clearance process

me™ is proud to be a part of Museum Victoria’s ongoing strategic initiatives in the areas of:
-       Online access to enable the dynamic delivery of content  to the community
-       Collection management, which aims to register approximately 70,000 items a year as part of the collection strategy 2004-14

About Museum Victoria

Museum Victoria is Australia’s largest museum organisation.  As the state museum for Victoria, it is responsible for looking after the state’s collection of more than 16 million items, conducting research and providing cultural and science programs for the people of Victoria and visitors from Interstate and overseas.

Museum Victoria’s origins date back to 1854, with the founding of the National Museum of Victoria and the establishment, in 1870, of the Industrial and Technological Museum of Victoria (later known as the Science Museum of Victoria).

By proclamation of the Museums Act 1983 (Vic.), these two institutions were amalgamated to form what is known as Museum Victoria, governed by the Museum Board of Victoria.

Museum Victoria operates three museums – Melbourne Museum, Immigration Museum, and Scienceworks, and a collections storage facility (Moreland Annexe), and is custodian for the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building.
